This delightful sour cream fruit tart is a stunning addition to any Memorial Day or 4th of July celebration, yet it’s just as delicious any time of the year! If you’ve been assigned dessert duty, this easy-to-make, minimal-ingredient treat is sure to impress.
Ingredients
For the Crust:
- 1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs (or 8 whole graham crackers, finely ground)
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter, melted
For the Filling:
- 6 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Topping:
- A mix of your favorite fruits: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and kiwi work wonderfully.
Instructions
- Preheat & Prepare the Crust:
Preheat your oven to 375°F. In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, and melted butter. Press the mixture firmly onto the bottom and sides of a 9-inch tart pan or pie plate. Bake for 8 minutes, then set aside to cool completely. - Make the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add the sour cream, lemon juice, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Spread the mixture evenly into the cooled crust. - Decorate with Fruit:
Arrange fresh fruit on top of the filling. For a festive touch, create a star design using blueberries. To do this, lightly trace a star shape into the filling with a knife. Then, outline the shape with blueberries, leaving space in between the star’s tips rather than outlining the entire perimeter. Fill in the star with additional blueberries and add sliced strawberries around it for contrast. - Chill & Serve:
Refrigerate the tart for at least 4 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together beautifully. Slice, serve, and enjoy this patriotic treat!
This easy, no-fuss tart is not only visually stunning but also incredibly refreshing and delicious. Perfect for holiday celebrations or any occasion where a light and fruity dessert is welcome!
Enjoy!
