Life, Lately

Helloooooo, long-lost friends!

It feels like forever since we last caught up, and I have to admit, I might have momentarily disappeared off the face of the earth! Life has been moving at lightning speed, and while I had every intention of staying on top of everything well, let’s just say reality had other plans.

If you’ve been following along, you probably know that my One Room Challenge Coastal Bathroom Makeover is not quite 100% finished yet. And, if you’ve been keeping tabs on my $100 Room Challenge Mudroom Makeover, well… let’s just say it’s still a work in progress!

This past month has been an absolute whirlwind, and looking back, I can’t help but laugh at myself for attempting not one, but TWO major DIY room renovations during what turned out to be the busiest month ever for our family. If there was ever a test in time management, this was it and let’s just say, I may not have passed with flying colors!

A Season of Celebrations

So what exactly has been going on over here? Buckle up, because it’s been a month full of love, milestones, and, of course, a few chaotic moments thrown in for good measure.

First, my beautiful niece and her longtime love got engaged a moment that felt so special for our entire family. What made it even more incredible was the fact that twenty years ago, she was the adorable flower girl at our wedding. Time has truly come full circle, and with our own 20th anniversary on May 17, it was such a sentimental moment to reflect on the journey of love and family.

Then came another celebration my husband’s birthday! Of course, there was cake (some additional candles required this year!), and lots of love to go around. Birthdays have a way of reminding us to slow down and cherish the people who mean the most, and I made sure to soak in every moment.

And then came prom season! Peter and his girlfriend attended his school’s prom making this the third prom in our family this year! Between tux fittings, dress shopping, and all the last-minute details, I’m pretty sure I could start a side gig as a professional prom planner at this point!

As if that wasn’t enough to make my heart swell, my youngest turned FIFTEEN which, honestly, does not even seem possible. I blinked, and my baby is now growing into a young adult. I’m not crying, you’re crying!

The End of an Era

Among all the celebrations, there was also a bittersweet moment as Peter played his very last baseball game. His baseball journey began with t-ball in kindergarten and included six incredible years on a traveling club team. Baseball has been such a huge part of his life and ours! and saying goodbye to this chapter was emotional for all of us. So many early morning games, road trips, and moments spent cheering from the sidelines… I wouldn’t trade a single one.

Then, in what felt like the blink of an eye, senior year officially came to a close. The moment we had been anticipating (and slightly dreading) finally arrived Baccalaureate Mass. Watching our firstborn, our first love and light of our lives, stand alongside his classmates, all grown up and ready to step into the next chapter, was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. These are kids we’ve known and loved since they were just tiny, running around the playground, and now, they’re heading off to college in August. Where does the time go?!

And because life apparently wasn’t done pulling on my heartstrings, my baby girl turned SEVENTEEN which, again, how is this even happening?! I feel like she was just learning to ride a bike yesterday, and now she’s on the verge of adulthood.

When Life Gets Real…

Of course, in the midst of all the love, joy, and milestone moments, real life has been happening, too sometimes with a vengeance! Our plumbing has officially gone off the rails, leaving us with more than our fair share of unexpected “adventures.”

The mudroom sink pipes are corroded and leaking, a pipe burst in the garage, and in my attempt to be a DIY queen, I tried to replace a faucet in the kids’ bathroom—only to end up flooding the kitchen below. Yep, you read that right. Just another day in the life, right?!

Between the celebrations, the plumbing disasters, and the sheer whirlwind of emotions, I’ve been feeling all the feelings this month teary, emotional, happy, sad, grateful, overwhelmed, and everything in between. And yes, I have eaten cake every single day of May to cope with it all. No regrets!

What’s Next?

So if you’ve been wondering why things have been a little quiet around here, now you know! Life lately has been one big, beautiful, chaotic party, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But I’m excited to get back to some of the things I can control—like tearing apart rooms and putting them back together again!

Be sure to stop by on Wednesday for June’s My Five Favorites, and keep an eye out at the end of the week for the big bathroom reveal I cannot wait to share how it all came together!

I hope life’s been good to you lately, too! Thanks for checking in and stopping by—it means the world to me to have you along for the ride. Until next time, friends!
