Meet Kristin!
Hello, friends! I’m Kristin from Delightfully Dowling. When Lisa asked me to participate in this Mother’s Day series, I was overjoyed and deeply honored. It feels extra special because, as I write this, I’m still carrying my first little one in my tummy!
This picture is from a couple of weeks ago, but I’m now nearly 33 weeks pregnant. My husband and I are excitedly awaiting the arrival of our baby girl, Charlotte Olivia, this June. We’re experiencing all the emotions—nervousness, excitement, joy, anxiety, and a touch of fear—all at once. Who knew preparing for parenthood could be such a rollercoaster?
What Excites You Most About Motherhood?
Honestly, everything excites me about becoming a mom—even the less glamorous parts like diaper changes and messy moments. I cannot wait to meet Charlotte, hold her, and pour all my love into her. I want to cherish every milestone, nurture her, and help her become the amazing individual she’s destined to be.
I know there will be tough days—nights when I’m exhausted, mornings when my shoes don’t match, and countless moments when I feel overwhelmed. But all of it, every challenge and every triumph, will be worth it. My devotion to this little girl already feels infinite.
A Mom I Admire: My Own
My mom has always been my hero. She’s not just my mother but my best friend and biggest supporter. Growing up, she was a single mom who worked tirelessly to provide for our family. Despite the challenges, she ensured I had everything I needed and encouraged me to follow my dreams.
Now that we live miles apart, I miss her every day. Yet, her love and support remain constant. She still takes care of me in so many ways—whether through advice, laughter, or simply reminding me to be myself. She’s the embodiment of strength and unconditional love, and I aspire to be just like her for Charlotte.
What Is Your Greatest Wish for Charlotte?
Above all, I want Charlotte to find happiness in being herself. My deepest hope is that she grows up confident, secure in her choices, and proud of who she is. I want her to embrace her individuality and navigate life with joy and self-assurance.
Three Words to Describe the Mom I Want to Be
If I could sum up my aspirations as a mother in three words, they would be: patient, supportive, and loving. I hope to embody these qualities every day as I guide Charlotte through life.
Following in My Mom’s Footsteps
One of the things I admire most about my mom is the friendship we share. I hope to cultivate that same bond with Charlotte one day. My mom always prioritized my happiness and went above and beyond to support me. If I can be even half the mother she is, I’ll consider myself successful.
A Favorite Memory with My Mom
There are countless memories I cherish with my mom, but one that stands out is our mother-daughter trip to Disney World. It was such a magical experience, filled with laughter and love. Even today, thinking about that trip brings a smile to my face. My mom has always had the ability to make me feel special and loved, no matter what.
The Most Valuable Lesson My Mom Taught Me
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from my mom is that parenting isn’t always about being your child’s friend. Sometimes, tough love is necessary. Setting boundaries and enforcing discipline, even when it’s hard, helps children grow into kind, responsible individuals. It’s a lesson I carry with me as I prepare to raise Charlotte.
My Ideal Mother’s Day
At this stage in my pregnancy, an ideal Mother’s Day would include a relaxing massage. With an aching back, swollen feet, and a belly that makes me feel like I’m carrying a “whale house” (yes, bigger than just a whale!), a bit of pampering sounds heavenly.
However, once Charlotte arrives, my vision of Mother’s Day will change. I dream of snuggling with her and my husband, enjoying breakfast in bed, and watching Disney movies together. Of course, someone else will need to clean up the crumbs afterward!
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
If you’re searching for a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift, I adore the delicate necklaces from Lisa Leonard, especially the itty bitty hearts necklace. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate motherhood. Paired with breakfast in bed, flowers, or a massage, it’s the perfect combination for a special day.Kristin’s reflections on motherhood, from her anticipation to the admiration she holds for her own mom, are heartwarming and relatable. As she prepares to welcome Charlotte into the world, it’s clear that Kristin is embarking on this journey with immense love, strength, and enthusiasm. Her mom’s incredible example has shaped her vision of the kind of mother she aspires to be—a patient, loving, and supportive guide who cherishes every moment with her child.
Kristin, your positivity and excitement are inspiring. We can’t wait to see you flourish in your new role as a mom. Wishing you, Charlotte, and your amazing mom a very Happy Mother’s Day!
