March 1, say what?? How did that happen? We have had the best winter in Massachusetts (at least for a cold weather wimp like me!) and my garden is so confused…..little crocuses are already peeking out of the earth, weeks ahead of schedule. I’m trying not to get my hopes up because this month could end up being a snowy tundra around here, but the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having has me chomping at the bit for springtime!!

Today I join Kris of Driven By Decor, Pam of Simple Details, Jennifer of Dimples & Tangles and our AAAAmazing guest host, Sherry of Design Indulgence to toss around ideas for spring decorating. Sherry’s work was recently featured in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle, including this stunning dining room:

Isn’t that gorgeous?? Sherry’s blog is full of glimpses of projects in-progress, great fabric recommendations, high-low decorating and posts that make me laugh out loud every time! We all love Sherry and are thrilled to have her join us this month for My Five Favorites!

I’m not a big seasonal decorator (especially now that my kids are getting older), and traditional spring colors of pastel pink and lavender are not really my thing, but I usually do make a few little tweaks to our home to make it cheery, and usher in the new season that I am so grateful to see coming!!!!!

Fingers crossed the spring-like weather is here to stay!

An optimist is the human personification of spring. – Susan J. Bissonette

Here are a few simple ideas on how to bring a little spring cheer into your home!

TABLE TEXTILES

Don’t feel like you have to stick with traditional spring colors when bringing a little spring decor into your home! I adore kelly green and indigo blue together and the hot pink of the flowers complements them. (These “napkins” are actually Nate Berkus fabric remnants from another project,  but this set is affordable and would bring some great pattern to the table.)

Fabric scraps are great for adding a bit of color to your everyday or special occasion table! Tie up cloth napkins with ribbon-like strips, use a remnant for a table runner, or cut your remnant and sew the edges to make custom napkins. (Side note:  our previous homes had this floral fabric every.where (as in 10 curtain panels in the family room, pillows on the couch, a chair and ottoman, and two roman shades in the adjoining kitchen……alllllll in the floral!!) )

The little bit I had left is just the right amount of springy happy floral.

PLATES

A little pop of green brings the table to life. A few of these would be beautiful on a spring table (or anytime of the year for that matter!!)

MAGAZINES & BOOKS

Use what you have and display the prettiest covers to suit your spring color scheme! Our living room is all creams and white so even a brightly colored magazine makes a big visual impact to the space. Corral them on your coffee table with a tray and an ordinary object becomes a part of the spring vignette.

TULIPS

Are tulips the official flower of spring? I think so, or at least they are in the running with daffodils. You pretty much can’t go wrong with daffodils any time of the year, but pink tulips in Springtime, it’s almost a requirement, right?? (Especially when they are $3.99 at Trader Joes!!)

SEASONAL FRAMED SNAPSHOTS

This is number five on my list, but my favorite way to decorate every season. I have a handful of frames that have several photos behind the glass that I change out on rotation. Find a photo for the season you’re in – a landscape, close up of some flowers from your garden, your pup frolicking outside. Pop that cute and cheerful addition next to your sink, on a foyer table or next to your bed for the spring season.

I mean come on….this gem from a million Easters ago cannot live solely in a photo album!

I can’t wait to see what pretties my comrades have for us. Head over and check out how everyone else brings a bit of springtime into their homes at Driven By Decor,  Simple Details,  Dimples & Tangles and  Design Indulgence!

A special thanks to Sherry for joining us today, we are thrilled to have you aboard!
